Loïs Boisson, a 22-year-old French player from Dijon, caused a sensation at Roland-Garros 2025 by reaching the semi-finals in her first Grand Slam appearance. Ranked 361st in the world and invited thanks to a wild card, she eliminated high-level opponents, including Elise Mertens (24th), Jessica Pegula (3rd) and Mirra Andreeva (6th). Her performance is all the more remarkable given that she was returning from a serious knee injury that had kept her off the courts for several months in 2024. Thanks to these performances, she became the first Frenchwoman to reach the semi-finals of Roland-Garros since 2011 and the lowest-ranked player to do so in at least 40 years. This success also allows her to become the new French number 1 and enter the world top 100. In the semi-final, she will face the American Coco Gauff, current world number 2.
