This is the Seder plate, used during the Passover meal. It contains symbolic elements of the story of the Exodus from Egypt. The three matzos are reminiscent of bread that has not had time to rise. The lamb bone evokes the Easter sacrifice. Bitter herbs represent the bitterness of slavery. The harosset symbolizes the mortar of the bricks, the hard-boiled egg an offering, and the salt water the tears shed.
